Coloransas
Day 2 in Kansas and I'm starting to understand the concept of "flat."I can see the grain elevators that mark the next town for 10-15 miles before I get there. The weather is sunny and warm, and so are the people.

Colorado was full of warm hearted folks as well. Thanks to my many hosts! I thouroughly enjoyed my stay with Dave and his roommates in Boulder (that's Castor).
Dave's house looks out over NCAR {National Center for Atmospheric Research}. What a view. And what a guy for riding with me ... through sprawlification, thorns [some people are deathly afraid of snakes out here, but I'm petrified of the grass!], scores of flat tires, mud (a whole lot of mud), and some good old fashioned Seattle-like moisture.
Lois and Dan in Aurora. What fun people. They're practically family!

Brenda and Jim Roll in Colorado Springs. I felt especially at home visiting with fellow western NY/PA folks.

After a day of rain, rain, and some very cold rain, it was wonderful to meet and spend time with such warm and generous folks as Debbie and John DeLuca in Pueblo West.
Gillian in Ordway, CO. She takes in cyclists, and takes care of chickens, turkeys, geese, ducks, horses, goats, cats, a dog... Interesting lady!
I think I've seen the last of hills for a while. I hope I've seen the last of those evil thorns too!Carpe diem. Carpe bathrooms. Carpe tail winds. That's what I say.
~2850 miles and rolling eastward...

Isn't that openness in Kansas wonderful though? Can't you just see for miles and miles, watch the sunset and see the actual layout of the wonderful land uninhibited by anything Or am I just the crazy one?
Way to go Kim! Did you think you'd ever casually ride 120mi in the middle of a tour? I'm impressed. And envious. Sounds like you're meeting/visiting lots of nice people and seeing cool things. That's the best part of touring, huh?

We hope you left the thorny paths behind when you crossed that Kansas border!

Hi Kim! I finally figured out that if I check your site at WORK the computer won't crash. I'm glad to keep closer tabs on your whereabouts.
love,
Becca
